Cyclist’s shoes still at scene 10 days after accident

The shoes of an accident victim have remained where they fell when they flew off his feet during an accident on April 13.

Ten days after he was knocked off his bicycle on South Main Reef Road, Dal Fouche (opposite the Springs Airfield) last Wednesday (April 13), Melui Nkosi’s shoes are still lying in the road.
He was knocked down by a light motor vehicle at before 7.30am.
Motorists immediately stopped to assist the man and called for an ambulance.
Maponya911 Ambulance paramedics responded to the scene and found the man lying in the road where people were trying to keep him comfortable.
He had suffered a major head injury and multiple bruises to his body, but he was calm and responded well to paramedics.
According to the paramedics he was fully alert, and paramedics moved him to the ambulance.
He was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital (FERH) for treatment.
According to witnesses Nkosi crossed the road on his bicycle and landed in front of an oncoming vehicle.
Dal Fouche resident Heidi Henning was one of the first people to stop at the scene of the accident.
“When the cyclist’s body hit the windscreen of the vehicle, he rolled off onto the tar road and landed in front of my car,” she says.
There were several people who assisted in treating the man before the ambulance services arrived at the scene.
FERH was approached at time of publishing but was unable to offer comment on his condition.
