Armed robbers cover young man with a blanket during robbery

Two armed suspects entered the room of a 24-year-old man, in Broad Street, Springs Extension and covered him with a blanket on Thursday.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the man was working on his laptop when the two men, one armed with a knife and the other with a firearm, entered the bedroom.

The victim was instructed to lie down on his bed before he was covered with a blanket.

He heard a door close and got up just in time to see the suspects getting into a dark grey Toyota Condor with three more suspects inside the vehicle before they fled the scene.

Ramphora says the man was too scared to peep out from under the blanket and only realised he had been robbed when his neighbours informed him of the theft.

He immediately called the police.

The victim’s TV, cellphone, laptop as well as cash were stolen.

No one was injured and the suspects gained entry into the room through the unlocked back door.

A case of house robbery was opened at the police station.
