It is all about the children

More than 520 people, including children were treated to lunch and Easter Eggs at Butler Park in Geduld on Saturday.

While lunch was being prepared, the children were entertained with different games.

“The children had fun during the boeresport but enjoyed the two-leg race the most,” says Sanette Joubert, one of the organisers.

Sanette and pastor Kobus Blomerus from Global Family Church have been working together for a long time to feed the children of Geduld.

Kobus recently told Sanette they should call this project Geduld Helpende Hande instead of the Butler Park feeding scheme.

“We appreciate the donations from all our sponsors for helping us to make this day possible,” says Sanette.

She is grateful for Marie Pretorius, her daughter Sinead Pretorius and their crew from Rescue 24 Ambulance Services, who never leave a stone unturned when it comes to medical assistance at the park.

Singer Mac Young was invited to entertain the adults, while Jaco Collen, Elsie van Vuuren and Susan Hopkins handed out Easter eggs to the children.

While the children enjoyed their Easter eggs, cake and ice cream, their parents were doing the twist during a dance-off competition.

Martin Bezuidenhout and his wife Magda Bezuidenhout were announced the winners and each received a special cupcake.

Sanette says if it wasn’t for the help of Kobus, Sarie Olivier and all the other people who supported her on Saturday, the day would not have been a success.

“It is all about the children,” she says.
