Duo accused of police officer’s murder remain behind bars

The two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Maj Coert Jordaan (39) appeared in the Springs Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The duo appeared before magistrate Cornel Pretorius who postponed the case to April 14.

They stand accused of Jordaan’s murder on January 27 at Aston Lake.

Jordaan’s body was found by an Aston Lake employee at 2.30pm, lying on the grass with stab wounds to his upper body.

The deceased’s vehicle, a silver Nissan Navara, and his cellphone were stolen.

The suspects also face charges of possession of unlicensed firearms, robbery with aggravated circumstances and the possession of a stolen vehicle.

Both suspects were appointed legal aid and will apply for bail at their next court appearance.

They remain in custody at Modderbee Prison pending their next appearance.
