23-year-old arrested for murder

A 23-year-old man was arrested for murder on Saturday after allegedly stabbing another male (age unknown) to death in the Springs CBD.

According to Springs spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora the incident took place on Second Street at about 12.30pm.

“Two males had a verbal fight while they were in town, then one of them took out a knife and allegedly stabbed the other man.

“People passing by were able to hold the accused and called an ambulance and the man who was stabbed was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital for medical treatment, but was declared dead upon arriving at the hospital,” says Ramphora.

He adds that the deceased had sustained three stab wounds to his body.

It is not yet known what the fight between the accused and the deceased was about, but the police are still investigating further and a case of murder has been opened at the Springs Police Station.

The accused will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
