The street lights in Rowhill have not worked in over a year claims resident, Annatjie Pawson.

Annatjie says that she has reported the problem to Ekurhuleni Metro on numerous occasions but nothing has been done to fix the problem.

“The lights will come on for about two seconds at the most and then they will go off again,” says Annatjie.

Ward councillor, Ramesh Sheodin has also reported the problem but says there is currently only one truck available to fix the light problem in all areas.

“There are 52 lights out in Rowhill currently and I have made the metro aware of the problem,” says Ramesh.

Residents in Rowhill need to be patient advises Ramesh as the lights will be fixed, it will just take some time.

Annatjie has had enough of the constant darkness covering the street and feels it is extremely dangerous for residents.

“Nobody can see anything at night and we as the residents feel this matter has gone on for too long,” says Annatjie.

The metro is yet to comment on this matter or when the lights will be fixed.
