Police warn locals to stop buying fake matric certificates

The police are warning residents against a syndicate that is producing matric certificates for people.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says they have discovered that there are people who are producing and selling fake matric certificates and that some people are buying them.

“People from Springs, Tsakane, Duduza, Daveyton, KwaThema and Etwatwa are warned to stop buying these fraudulent documents, because if they are found with these fake documents they will be arrested and charged.

“Last year we found two people who had bought these fake certificates. This year we have already found one, so just don’t do it as you will be caught.

Be warned that we are aware of what is happening and that if you are buying a certificate you are just as guilty,” he says.

Ramphora adds that they normally catch these residents when they come to the police stations to certify their documents.

He says those who are caught will be charged for fraud and producing fraudulent details.
