Armed robbers descend on family in Bakerton

Three armed suspects, wearing balaclavas and gloves, surprised a family in their home in Oriole Street, Bakerton, on Friday.

When a 64-year-old man returned home at noon, he found the gate to his property open and drove in to park his car.

Suddenly three suspects appeared and forced him to go inside the house.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the suspects searched the man and took his car keys.

When the man entered the house, he saw his family members were in the lounge.

All of the victims were ordered to go inside the bathroom while the suspects searched the house.

Ramphora says the suspects took three Plasma TVs, jewellery, two cellphones, a laptop and binoculars.

All the stolen goods were loaded into the family’s charcoal colour BMW.

The suspects drove off in the BMW and a white Audi A5.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

Ramphora says the BMW was recovered in KwaThema later that day.
