Trailer is a gift from God
The Springs SPCA received a much needed trailer donated by Alta Gobey, an SPCA committee member on Thursday.
The trailer was handed over to Celeste Kleyn, SPCA manager, and Debbie Miller, the fundraiser of the organisation.
They all met at a nursery in Dersley where the official handover took place at 1pm.
Due to the fact that Alta is a committee member, she is aware of how desperately the organisation need a trailer.
“As far as I know, they had to remove the canopy from the bakkie every time they had to collect large donations or had to transport garden rubble to a landfill site,” she says.
Her involvement in SPCA affairs comes over a period of five years and she serves as the treasurer at the Ekurhuleni Council for the nine organisations.
She says the SPCA is constantly in need of funding and other donations to keep their doors open.
“I hope the trailer will ease their transporting needs a little,” says Alta.
Celeste says the trailer is a godsend.
“It will definitely make our job a lot easier when we need to transport food or anything else,” concludes Celeste.
