Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the man was asleep on a couch in the back room of the house.
The intruders ordered the man to keep quiet while they searched the room.
Ramphora says they took an undisclosed amount of cash hidden in a cupboard and ran away.
The man reported the incident to the police and a case of house robbery was opened at the police station.
The suspects were not armed and the police are investigating.
