Brandon trims and tones for new movie
Local actor Brandon Auret is preparing for his latest action movie, partly, on the mats at House of Tinkerbell (HOT) in Springs.
Under the watchful eye of Springs’ professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters JP ‘Tinkerbell’ Kruger and Tumisang ‘The President’ Madiba, Brandon is working on his moves while toning his body for the rigours ahead.
The actor, who is currently in Cape Town, was not available to chat to the Addie this week but we’ll be meeting with him on his return to Springs later this month.
In the meantime, to whet your appetite, we chatted to the men at HOT about his training.
While they did not want to give details about the movie, preferring to let Brandon fill us in when we meet, they were happy to talk about a man they describe as a friend and natural athlete.
According to JP, when Brandon landed the role he needed to get into shape and trim and tone his body, but also wanted to live the role so, being a Springsite, naturally turned to the guys at HOT for guidance.
“We’ve been family for a long time. He’s always been a Springs boy and supported us at all our fights.
“Even before HOT he was part of the XKT Pro League family and through his friendship with Jimmy (Read) who runs and manages XKT we got involved in helping him train for this movie.”
Tumisang says while he is doing the MMA work with Brandon, JP is concentrating on gi grappling and Brazilian jiu jitsu.
“It’s an honour to train Inspector Dup (referring to his former role as Leon du Plessis in Isidingo). He’s rolling with the punches and training like a professional,” says Tumisang.
“Although he is a red carpet superstar, he is still a down to earth guy and we are blessed to have him here. He’s a natural athlete.
“If he didn’t want to be a movie star he could have done any sport and been good at it,” JP concludes.
