Armed suspects fire two shots

One of the five armed suspects who robbed a business on Saturday fired a shot at the owner.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman says the bullet missed the owner.

The 44-year-old owner closed the doors for business at 2am, but didn’t lock up as there were still customers inside the building.

The suspects opened the door and the shot was fired directly after the owner closed the door for business.

Ramphora says the suspects pointed their guns at the customers and instructed them to lie down on the floor.

Each customer was searched and their jewellery and cellphones were taken.

The suspects also took three cash registers filled with cash and left the building.

Ramphora says they fired another shot when they left and fled on foot.

When the police arrived they found two cartridges and one live round of ammunition.

A case of business robbery was opened at the police station.

No one was injured and the police is investigating the case.
