Robbers use domestic worker to break in

A house was robbed in Amatola Road in Dersley on Wednesday, when robbers used the domestic worker to wake up the owner at 9pm.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says three armed suspects woke the domestic worker and ordered her to call the owner of the house.

She knocked on the bedroom window of the main house at around 9pm, to wake the owner, who was already asleep.

When the owner opened the door he was surprised by the three armed robbers, who ordered him to lie on the ground.

The intruders searched the house and took jewellery, two TV sets, a computer, a Play Station and the keys to a black BMW.

Ramphora says they loaded all the stolen goods into the BMW.

Before leaving the scene, they tied up the owner and the domestic worker and put cloths in their mouths.

“The domestic worker managed to untie herself and the owner and called the police,” says Ramphora.

A case of house robbery was opened at the Springs Police Station.
