WATCH: Local talent star appears in Dettol and Google commercials

A local boy from Dersley Park featured in two advertising campaigns and has been scouted by an international talent agent.

Eight-year-old model, actor and singer, Hlukani ‘Zookie’ Maswanganyi was scouted by an international talent agency and was made an official Forever Changed ambassador.

Zookie also participated as a child model in the To Be Remembered/Forever Changed photographic tribute by international photographer Girolamo Florio in June last year.

Zookie has since appeared in the Dettol television commercial and more recently the Google TV commercial.

“He has an interesting look, is a fast learner and easy to direct,” says his agent, Addi Lang.

Zookie is currently concentrating on intensive drama classes, modelling, singing and dancing lessons in preparation for the Applause Rising Talent Showcase in Orlando, America in July in which Zookie will be representing South Africa in the international performing arena.

“I am extremely proud of Zookie’s progress and feel blessed to include him as one of the Forever Changed Ambassadors,” says Addi.

Zookie will be heading to Orlando to showcase his talent in front of industry giants and decision makers including managers and agents.

Celebrity ambassadors include headline entertainer and recording artist, Zac Hilon, based in Los Angeles.

Addi is a cancer warrior and founder of the Forever Changed Campaign which was launched in October 2014 and continues to create awareness for newly diagnosed cancer warriors through her own physical, emotional and psychological journey of coming to terms with her late stage diagnosis, conventional medical treatments and the financial ramifications that comes with cancer.

As part of her campaign, Addi has appointed Forever Changed Ambassadors locally and internationally who will assist in creating awareness by showcasing screenings of the Forever Changed documentaries in South Africa and around the world.

“The intention for 2016 is that all ambassadors around the world will perform and roll out the DVD using private screenings which I believe will be more meaningful and will have a stronger impact by reaching relevant audiences,” she says.

The Forever Changed Ambassadors were selected to be a voice for warriors and caregivers of all ages.

According to Zookie’s mother, Portia Lopes das Dores, after he auditioned for an international movie, he was scouted by Kim Myers, an international talent scout from America.

Myers scouts talent from around the globe and gives South Africans the opportunity to be introduced to casting directors, agents, managers and casting directors from Disney, Universal and many more.
