A school boy was reportedly stabbed outside his school on Friday.
Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says four students from another school allegedly approached the victim about 3pm, outside his school and demanded money.
When the victim informed the four students he had no money with him, one of the four students pulled out a bread knife and stabbed the victim in his back.
Ramphora says the four students ran away after the incident, but one of them was caught by other scholars.
A security guard from a local security company was at the scene first and confirms the argument was about money.
The guard called for an ambulance.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and took him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The student who stabbed the boy was arrested by the security guard.
Ramphora says the police will investigate a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“The child was placed in the care of his parents,” he concludes.
