Armed robbers wear balaclavas

Six men (two of whom were armed) tied up a resident of Brandwacht Street, Eastvale, before robbing him on Thursday.

The victim was asleep at 2.30am, when he woke to a noise and noticed six suspects in his bedroom.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the man reports that two of the suspects were armed with 9mm pistols and three were wearing balaclavas.

When the suspects saw the man was awake, they tied up his hands.

Ramphora says the robbers took a TV, home theatre system, DVD player, R2 000 in cash, two cellphones and food.

They broke a window in the lounge to gain entry and used the same window to leave with the stolen goods.

A case of house robbery was opened at the police station.
