SAPS seize dagga in Geduld

Dagga to the value of R7 000 was seized at a house on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, Geduld at noon on Thursday.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the man living in the house where the dagga was found fled when he saw the police vehicles.

The police received information on the possible cultivation of dagga plants at the above address.

Ramphora says when the police arrived they noticed that dagga was cultivated inside the house and in the ally way next to the house.

The police found 35 polystyrene cups with small dagga plants in a black crate, a second black container containing 17 plants, one big pot plant and two big plants planted in the vegetable garden.

The police also seized three shopping bags containing dried dagga which they believe was ready to be sold.

Two dagga pipes were also found in the house.

“We removed the two big plants from the garden and all the pots and dried plants,” says Ramphora.

The value of the plants and dried plants seized is about R7 000.

Ramphora says the man had planted the dagga for selling purposes.
