SAPS arrest two escapees

The police were able to locate the prioners by following information given by the community.

Two of the six awaiting trial prisoners, who escaped from the Springs Police Station cells on January 3, have been rearrested.

Both men were found in the Kwatsaduza area.

One of the suspects, who is facing charges of murder, was arrested early on Friday morning in Tsakane.

Lt Col Lungelo Dlamini, provincial SAPS spokesman, says they received information from the community that one of the other suspects was at his home in KwaThema.

The police went to the address on Wednesday and arrested the man who is facing charges of theft of copper cables.

Dalimini says the suspects will face further charges of escaping from custody when they appear in the Springs Magistrate Court.

The other four suspects are still at large and the search for them continues.
