Death not accidental

The death of Frederick Jacobus Visagie (77), whose body was found on the corner of Fryer and Clydesdale roads, in Casseldale at 4.30pm, last Friday, was reportedly not an accident.

Visagie’s body was found in the street by the community members who called the police.

Paramedics declared the man dead on the scene.

Amanda Greybe, Springs police spokesman, says a 48-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were arrested on Tuesday.

They both appeared in the Springs Regional Court on Friday and were released from custody due to the lack of information.

Greybe says the police thought Visagie died of natural causes, but after they received more information on the incident leading to Visagie’s death, they changed the inquest to a murder case.

However, the police are still waiting for the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.

Greybe says the 48-year-old woman claims Visagie and the 38-year-old man were at a club when an argument started.

Visagie allegedly left the club shortly after the argument.

Anyone with information to assist the police in their investigation, can contact the police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
