Kwasa’s progress

Much happened at Kwasa last year including the make-over of the pre-primary school.

Reverend Sharron Dinnie, founder of Kwasa, says the preparatory school doubled in size where they were able to offer Grade One and Grade Two classes.

Highlights include the building of four new classrooms for the preparatory school, completed at the beginning of the third term.

“The Grades One and Grade Two classes were able to occupy their brand new classrooms and begin to use the also brand new ablution facilities,” she says.

In July a team, organised by Celeste van Niekerk from a Pretoria business, worked feverishly to do a “make-over” in the pre-primary school playground area.

“We are so grateful to all who contributed to the special facility for our smaller children. They can now both learn the basic rules of the road and have fun at the same time,” says Sharron.

She is also proud to announce the two Eucharists held in the newly build chapel.

“This coincided with the visit by St John’s visitors from Guildford/Westgreen in England, which is significant as the funding for the building was provided by the Carghill Foundation through St John’s and Westgreen Trust,” says Sharron.

The two safe-houses were re-decorated by another business, which has been a faithful Kwasa supporter for five years.

A few older Kwasa children did well and a worthy mention is Vinet Maepa, headgirl at Strubenvale Primary School. Vinet was awarded a number of medals and trophies and made an excellent out-going headgirl speech.

Sharron is very proud of Vinet as she will move on to Springs Girls High School.

“It is successes like these which should keep us all enthusiastic about, and committed to, the task of growing Kwasa College,” Sharron concludes.
