Tour the inside of the Springs Mall

Members of the public were invited to tour the inside of the Springs Mall, which is scheduled to open this year.

Members of the Chamber of Commerce and other parties were invited for a tour inside the Springs Mall on Wednesday morning, which is scheduled to open on March 16, 2017.

The 48 000sqm world-class regional mall, which represents a substantial R950-million investment, is already 98% let and is scheduled to open on time.

Paul Gerard, director of Flanagan & Gerard Property Development and Investment, chaperoned the first tour group into one of the mall’s three entrances and pointed out its convenient proximity to the highway and other main roads.

He says that when letting started, their number one priority was to secure all of the banks, both the leading pharmacies as well as all of the major fashion retailers.

“Those are the foundation of a strong shopping centre,” he says.

The cellphone and electronic retailers followed, along with the services to complement these stores, such as restaurants and beauty salons.

Only once the mall is open for trading will they fully understand the retail success and be able to decide which stores to add or remove, says Gerard.

He says he would like to see a mountain bike track in the wetlands area behind the track in the future and adds that cinemas, along with other family entertainment, are also a possibility.

Furthermore, there is talk of a petrol station and a popular fast-food restaurant drive-thru in the long term.
