Springs resident and Consul General returns from India

Consul General for South Africa, Pule Malefane (48) returns home after a four year stay in India.

He spent four years promoting trade investment relations between South Africa and India.

Appointed by the President of South Africa Jacob Zuma to go to India, Pule says,”the kindness and warmth I received from the people in Mumbai was amazing. I really enjoyed my time there.

“India is rich in culture and the humility of the people is what I enjoyed most while there,” he adds.

Pule worked on solidifying the relationship between India and South Africa, which he says is “now strong”.

While in India Pule travelled around the country for both business and pleasure, visiting places like Kashmir and Taj Mahal.

“India sees South Africa as a growing potential market for trade and has over 180 companies with Indian trade already established in South Africa,” says Pule

“We, as South Africans, should take advantage of the potential market available for trade in India.”

The Pule is a married father of five and has been a Springs resident for more than 20 years.

His family is able to travel with him when he stays in other countries for which he is extremely grateful.

Pule’s wife, Lerato Malefane (36) and their children Palesa (26), Kgomotso (24), Tokologo (10), Neo (5) and Naledi (10 months) make his placements easier for him, he says.

In January he packs up again and heads to Turkey as a fully fledged ambassador for South Africa.

He will be a resident representative of the South African government based in Turkey for four years.

As acting CEO for Gauteng Tourism before becoming consul, Pule was exposed to the international trade which fuelled his passion for the trade market.

He also continuously promotes the influx of tourists saying,”we need to respond correctly to the visitors in our country.”

The consul says he “is honoured to be representing the country at an international level.”

Pule firmly believes it is up to each individual to help take the country forward.

Pule thanks all those who have supported him in his role as consul and hopes the support will continue while he is in Turkey.
