Carols by Candlelight in Edelweiss

Joy and Mike Hale partnered with the New Beginnings men's Christian group to host the Carols by Candlelight on Saturday.

The event took place at a factory, on the corner of Butler and Millet streets in Edelweiss.

An estimate of 100 people supported the event.

“We are quite impressed with the turnout and hope it will grow in 2016,” says Joy.

The event started at 5pm when several people started preparing the hamburgers and pancakes on sale to raise money.

Money collected during the evening will be donated to Hi5 Kids Recovery Unit.

Jimmy Robertson, chairman of New Beginnings, says they are a men’s prayer group which meets at 8am, every first Saturday of the month.

“We have breakfast and pray for our town,” he says.

He believes joining hands with Joy and Mike was a good idea.

Everyone enjoyed something to eat and drink before settling in for a night of singing of Christmas carols.

“Thank you to each and every one for making this event such a success,” Joy concludes.
