Following the article previously reported by the Addie last week (Soaked in Sewage)
Ilana Joubert (30), a Geduld resident, woke up last Monday morning to find her front yard completely flooded with sewage water.
The sewage pushed out of a blocked manhole next to the property and leaked into Joubert’s yard, almost surrounding the house.
Joubert says the officials told her that they cannot get the truck out to her residence immediately but noted the situation as urgent.
Ekurhuleni metro’s spokesman Themba Gadebe has responded with the following “The blockage was opened in the afternoon of November 26. The complaint was received, however, there was a backlog as we received a large number of alerts during that period.The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality apologises for the inconvenience it may have caused.”
