Centre receives Christmas hampers

The Thandabantu Community Centre was the centre of attention of a business from Soweto on Sunday.

Charmaine Govender and her team, who all work at the company and who started this project, arranged a breakfast at the centre after they saw a desperate need when they arranged a soup kitchen on Mandela Day.

“Our company felt they had to do something for Christmas after the soup kitchen,” she says.

Christmas hampers in the form of mealie meal, oil, sugar, rice and a few biscuits and sweets were donated to the centre.

“All the groceries were donated by the staff from our company and given to this centre which so desperately needs it.”

Less fortunate children and their families all received a healthy and filling breakfast of scrambled eggs, mash, gravy and Viennas.

The Viennas were sponsored by a local meat market in Springs.
