An Everest women had to receive medical treatment after she was bitten by an intruder in her home.

The woman, who lives along Ester Street in the informal settlement, was awakened by a noise at 9pm on Saturday.

She went to investigate and found an unknown man standing at her door.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the woman blew a whistle and the man ran away.

Satisfied that the man was gone, she returned to bed and fell asleep.

She was rudely awakened between 1am and 2am on Sunday morning, by someone touching her.

After the man ran out of the shack with her money, the woman blew her whistle again, alerting the community.
