UPDATE: Ebotse murder case

The double murder case against Retief Liebenberg (50), a Springs businessman, continues in the Pretoria High Court after his hearing started on Monday.

He was arrested on October 31, 2013 in connection with the shooting of 19-year-old Dewalt “Poenie” Visser and his father Dewalt Visser (46), in his Benoni home.

Today (Wednesday) the state will call the security guard at the Ebotse Estate in Rynfield, Benoni to testify on what happened on the night of the murders.

Visser senior’s friend will also be called to the stand to testify.

On Tuesday, judge Mahomed Ishmail heard the defence’s witnesses, Liebenberg’s daughter, his wife and brother testifying on what happened on the night of the shooting.

The state’s first witness, a pathologist, testified on the bullet wounds found on the bodies on Monday, followed by the testimony of the first policeman on the scene.

The hearing will be heard until Friday or until all witnesses have testified.
