Mad Rage welcomes donation of toys

A truckload of toys for boys and girls was handed over to Andries Ferreira, founder of Mad Rage Against Child Abuse, last Thursday.

The toys were donated by Enderun College in Olympia Park, who are giving back to the community.

Tasmeen Seedat, from the college, says during each school term learners and educators are able to acknowledge and assist those in need.

In the beginning of the third term, the educators decided to organise a toy drive.

The college personnel and students previously focused on charity work for adults, distributing bread to the less fortunate and blankets to non-profit organisations.

However, in the third term their emphasis was on children.

“Often children from stable homes are unrestricted and given the luxury of toys, while others are deprived of the little things that define childhood,” she says.

It was an eye-opening experience for learners and educators to meet Andries.

Tasmeen says the learners were overwhelmed and grateful to be part of this heart-warming project.

During his visit, Andries conducted an interactive and informative presentation explaining to the learners and educators exactly what the organisation does, how and why it was formed, and the organisation’s plans for the future.

Andries says he is grateful for every soft toy his organisation receives and he will make sure it is distributed to a child in need.

“These toys are a comfort to children who have lost their trust not only in adults, but in society,” he says.
