Family Day raises funds

Epilepsy SA in Geduld hosted a fund-raising Family Day at the centre in East Geduld Road on Saturday.

Mandy Lötter, the centre’s administrator, says with the help of the centre personnel this day wouldn’t have been possible.

The aim of the day was to raise much-needed funds to buy a new blood pressure machine and other necessary equipment for use at the centre, which will make the lives of the employees and residents so much easier.

Mandy says the centre sold boerewors rolls, curry and rice, hot chips and pies, as well as sweets packets, cold drinks and crisps.

Each resident received a toiletry gift packet neatly packed in a cotton gift bag.

“We selected two teams made up by day workers and residents to enjoy a soccer match,” she says.

The residents were quite intrigued by the EMPD K9 Unit show.

According to Mandy, the day was a huge success and was thoroughly enjoyed by residents and their families.

During the prize-giving, Dalien le Roux won the second cash prize.

Although the first and third prize winners weren’t present on the day, they will be contacted during the week to collect their prizes.

The centre’s second-hand shop will move to Second Street, Springs CBD, next to Solly’s and a Banting Shop will be opened at the centre.

“We request the public to support these two new shops,” says Mandy.

She adds that the staff is tremendously proud of each and everyone who worked hard to make the fund-raising event successful and thank the residents and their families for their support.
