Woman (83) viciously assaulted during house robbery

The Daggafontein CPF found an 83-year-old woman, covered in blood, in a cupboard in her house last Wednesday.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, the woman’s house in Daggafontein was allegedly robbed in the early hours of Tuesday.

The CPF received information from a community member regarding the senior citizen.

CPF members had to climb the fence of the property in Bokmakierie Street and went through the open front security door to gain access to the house.

They found the woman at about 11am in a cupboard, covered with blankets.

Ramphora says when the CPF members removed the blankets, they found the woman’s face and head covered in blood.

She was allegedly assaulted with rocks.

“The woman is severely traumatised and was very weak,” says Ramphora.

The CPF called the police and an ambulance to the scene.

The paramedics treated the woman and she was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Jewellery and a cellphone was allegedly taken from the house.

Ramphora says they are not sure how many robbers were involved.

A case of house robbery and attempted murder was opened at the Springs police.

“We would like the community to assist us in tracking down these culprits,” says Ramphora.
