Man stabbed, knife found next to body

The body of an unknown man was found in the Daggafontein informal settlement on Saturday.

A passerby discovered the body at 2.30am along Main Street and sought help.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the man managed to flag down a passing vehicle and the driver took him to the Springs Police Station.

When police arrived, they found the man with a stab wound to his chest and a knife next to him.

They called Ekurhuleni Emergency Services and paramedics declared the man dead on the scene.

The deceased’s wallet, which contained several bank cards and R50, was in his pocket.

A murder docket was opened at the police station.
