Sewage seeps into vlei
Strubenvale resident Mike Hale is at his wits' end regarding a massive sewage leak in Hanson Road.
“I have been fighting with and complaining to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality for years regarding this matter,” he says.
Raw sewage is spilling from a blocked drain into the vlei that leads to the Blesbokspruit and according to Hale, it has been an ongoing battle for many years.
The problem has worsened over the last six months and sewage is constantly seeping from the drain.
Hale adds that when the metro arrives, they dig a hole in search of a pipe and then leave, not resolving the issue in any way.
“The stench of this is excruciating on the best of days,” he says.
He adds that not only does it look disgusting, smells and pollutes the water, but it is also a major health risk.The Addie is awaiting comment from the metro.
