SAPS seize 75 packets of drugs

Two suspects were arrested by the Springs police for possession of drugs in the CBD on Monday.

Two SAPS Crime Prevention Unit members were conducting routine patrols at 6am in the CBD, when they noticed a suspicious looking man.

They stopped and searched the one suspect on the corner of Second Street and Fourth Avenue and found 70 packets of dagga in his possession.

Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says on the corner of Fourth Street and Second Avenue, they saw another suspicious looking man.

When they stopped and searched him, they found two packets of dagga and five packets of nyaope in his possession.

W/O James Russel and Sgt Oelof de Meyer arrested both suspects and took the suspects to the Springs police cells.

Ramphora says these four streets are a high crime area and the police patrol the area on a regular basis.

The street value of the drugs is approximately R3 000.
