Pensioner attacked with a spanner

A 68-year-old Eastvale woman was hit over the head with a spanner during a house robbery.

According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, the victim and another woman (age unknown) were held up by two armed men in their home along Sneeuberg Road on Friday.

The women were sleeping when the men broke in at 2.15am.

The pair first confronted one of the women in her bedroom, waking her up by putting a hand over her mouth.

They demanded her ring and wristwatch but she was unable to take the jewellery off.

The robber armed with a spanner then went to the elderly woman’s bedroom, where he assaulted her.

The men fled with plasma TVs, Xboxes, cellphones and R750 in cash.
