Armed robbers terrorise Edelweiss family

A family of four fell victim to a gang of armed robbers in their Edelweiss home on Thursday.

The robbery took place at an address along Klipspringer Crescent, at about 9pm.

The man and his wife were watching TV, while their two children, both aged 18, were upstairs.

The robbers entered the house and pointed their guns at the couple.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says two of the robbers went upstairs and fetched the teenagers.

The victims were ordered not to look at the men and were covered with blankets.

The robbers took three TVs, two laptops, three iPads, two iPhones, two cellphones and clothes valued at R2 000.

Ramphora says the men also took R70 000 in cash, and loaded everything into the victim’s car, a Hyundai IX35, and drove off.

A case of house robbery and theft of motor vehicle was opened at the police station.
