Man assaults ex-girlfriend

Springs police arrested a man in Reedville on Sunday at 11pm, after it is believed he assaulted his ex-girlfriend twice.

Since November 2014, the woman has opened several cases of assault against her ex-boyfriend.

On August 8 she was asleep in her Reedville home when she was awoken by a knock on the door.

Springs police spokesman, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says the man at the door, who identified himself as the woman’s ex-boyfriend, claimed his house was on fire.

He allegedly entered her house uninvited and demanded her to give him her TV.

Ramphora says he pulled the woman from the house, undressed her and took her to his house where he assaulted her.

He also allegedly poured water over her and locked her inside of his house.

When he came back, he reportedly used bad language in front of her and said, “you opened a case of assault against me”.

“She sustained a wound on her left jaw and several bruises from the assault,” says Ramphora.

The woman was released that same day from the man’s house and she opened another case of assault.

The suspect will appear in court soon.
