Driver flees scene of accident
The driver of a vehicle who hit a lamp post and a tree along Nigel Road, Selection Park, fled the accident scene.
The crash took place at 12.15am on Saturday.
When EMPD officers Louis Els and Louwtjie du Toit arrived, they found a blue Peugeot had collided with a lamp post and a tree.
Els says they found an injured passenger, who was bleeding, but couldn’t find the driver.
The passenger confirmed he was the owner of the vehicle but claimed he was a passenger at the time of the accident, and that the driver ran away.
A case of leaving the scene of an accident and reckless and negligent driving was opened at the Springs Police Station.

The vehicle was taken to the Van Ryn Deep police car pound in Benoni.
