Metro shows no concern to hole in ground

A massive hole in Windsor Street, Selcourt, has many residents concerned for their safety.

Yolanda van Greuning explains the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality fixed a water leak under a tree more than two months ago and left the enormous hole in the ground.

She says she has seen children playing on the mound next to the hole numerous times and says they could get seriously injured or even killed if they fall in the hole.

This hole is located near the entrance to the home of Peter Kimbel (75) and his wife Sheila (75).

“Criminals can easily hide in that hole at night and wait for them to return and attack them,” says van Greuning.

The elderly couple, who have lived on the property for 50 years, cannot believe the problem has still not been resolved after it has been reported numerous times.

They feel they are being treated unfairly as taxpayers.

“All we get is a reference number each time we phone, but no action,” says Peter.

He adds the wind also blows all kinds of rubbish into the hole, which may lead people to think they can dump anything in there.

The Addie is awaiting comment from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
