Kwasa celebrations

Serious fundraising needs to be embarked upon to determine the plans for the chapel.

Kwasa College celebrated the feast of Saint Mary Magdalene with a communion service and house sports.

The feast is a celebration of the saint’s meaningful life.

Kwasa started the celebrations with a communion service in the old church building which had been vacated for the day by the class occupying it.

The Venerable Sharron Anne Dinnie was very pleased to have reclaimed the worship space.

Regular worship and services will continue to be held in the church building as the Christian ethos of the college develops.

Refreshments were enjoyed before the learners changed into their house colours for the house sporting events.

The house representing St Mary Magdalene wore red, blue for the St John house and green for the St Anne house.

“We were honoured to have Bishop Peter Lee, retired Bishop David Bannerman, our Vicar General Father Zipozonke Mnyandu, the heads of St Dunstan’s College, Kwasa College board members, family, friends and the learners of Kwasa present,” said Sharron.

Every excited learner competed in the sports which included a sack race and a 40m egg or potato spoon dash.

After much participation, enthusiasm, singing and cheering, St Anne was awarded the sports trophy, St Mary the spirit trophy and St John the trophy for participation.

“Hopefully it will become an annual event at the school,” said Sharron.
