Youth assist SAPS in fight against crime

The aim of the Springs Youth Crime Prevention Desk (YCPD) is to eradicate youth crime.

The YCPD was established by the Springs youth to assist the Springs police in eliminating crime among the youth in the community.

Daniel du Preez, organiser of the YCPD, says there are various activities which the desk will assist the police with.

These activities include sport and art against crime, DVD screenings at pre-schools, school talks, school searches, establishing school safety desks, organising youth safety forums to talk about the daily problems youth are faced with, youth in training and awareness events.

Anyone interested in joining the youth desk should be between the ages of 15 and 35.

Du Preez encourages members of the community to join the desk regardless of their race and gender. There are no joining fees involved.
