Huge drug discovery

Members of the Nigel Rural Safety made a huge discovery at the Holgate Small Holdings on Tuesday (July 21).

This comes after the Gauteng police arrested three suspects on the premises, of an old church building, of what is believed to be a mandrax laboratory.

According to Nigel police spokesman WO Madelein von Wielligh these members noticed a fire at an old church building shortly after 5pm and rushed to the scene to attend to the fire.

Three men were at the building when they arrived, and assisted them in extinguishing the fire.

She says the fire was allegedly caused by an electrical box outside the building which was overloaded.

It was then that the Nigel Rural Safety members noticed the plastic containers inside the building.

They immediately contacted the Nigel SAPS.

The chemicals worth an estimated R30-million have also been confiscated on the property.

Von Wielligh says the three suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.

Police are investigating to find the owner of the small holding.
