SAPS issue warning about key holders

Springs police have issued a warning to members of the public about a new way in which criminals operate.

It is believed a syndicate is selling key holders in public places and petrol stations.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora claims these holders have inbuilt tracking chips which allow the traders to track those who buy them to their homes.

He says the traders will be informed of the victim’s every move and appeals to the community not to purchase them.

Ramphora also urges the community to tell their family, friends and colleagues not to buy the holders.

“Alert everyone to be on the look-out for people selling these key holders,” he says.

If you are approached to buy a key holder, contact police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
