Head of detectives served with suspension notice

The branch commander of the Springs Detective Unit at the Springs Police Station was served with a notice of suspension on Monday.

This comes after the Gauteng SAPS completed an internal investigation into the branch commander’s links to the two local detectives allegedly involved in the murders of three people in Carltonville on April 17.

Provincial SAPS spokesman Lt Col Lungelo Dlamini says this investigation led to the notice being served but he was unable to elaborate on the exact reasons.

The branch commander has 14 days to respond.

The two detectives and two informers allegedly killed three men and wounded one, who lived to tell the story.

They are facing charges of murder, attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice.
