Metro attends to water leak in the CBD

Water was streaming down Seventh Street in the CBD on Thursday.

The Addie was inundated with calls about water gushing from two hydrants at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street.

This was the result of work being conducted by workers from the Ekurhuleni Metro.

Metro plumber Derrek Immelman claims it was necessary to open the hydrants in order to reduce the water pressure.

They were attending to a leak along Fifth Avenue and wouldn’t have been able to carry out the repairs if the water pressure was too high.

The leak was caused by a broken valve, which was replaced, and within no time the hydrants were closed again.
