Coal stolen from stationary train

Everest - Springs police are investigating a case of theft after coal was stolen from a stationary train recently near the Gugulethu/Everest Informal Settlement.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says a group of people allegedly stole coal from the train while it was stationary along the tracks.

“The train had been signalled to stop in order for another train to pass,” he says.

According to Ramphora, coal was stolen from four of the train’s coaches.

No arrest has been made and police are investigating a case of theft.
