Resident outraged by illegal dumping

Two months after illegal dumping in the CBD was reported to the Ekurhuleni Metro, they sent an environmental health practitioner to investigate.

This comes after resident Peter Pitsiladis noticed people dumping rubbish and other waste on a vacant property, on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Ninth Street, in the CBD.

He claims the metro has not removed any of the waste and the rubbish is strewn all over the property.

Metro spokesman Themba Gadebe says a statutory notice will be served to the owner to address the illegal dumping on the premises.

The metro will, however, attend to the refuse dumped on the pavement of the property.

Gadebe also said that ‘No dumping’ boards will be erected during the 2015/2016 financial year at various points on the pavement of the property.
