Residents upset about graphic posters

Disturbing posters with graphic images are a concern to Springs residents.

The posters are plastered on almost every lamp post or electrical box in Springs, and even at the Civic Centre.

These posters advertise the enhancement and enlargement of genitals, breasts, hips, as well as several other bodily improvements.

Springs resident Jaco Nel tries to remove these posters on a daily basis around a school in Geduld, but they appear again the next day.

He is the chairman of a local school’s governing body and says they are trying to sustain the integrity of education and the school’s image.

The visuals are disturbing and the learners are exposed to adult matters unnecessarily.

He claims the learners remove the posters and take them to their teachers and demand explanations.

“The teachers now have to put aside education and try to explain what the posters are about,” he says.

He adds this is an educational dilemma and is not in line with the purpose of the school.

Nel feels the school is being targeted and they are fighting a losing battle in removing the posters.
