FCS unit receives soft toys

The SAPS Violence and Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit (FCS) received the last stock of the soft toys from Mad Rage Against Child Abuse, at their offices, on Thursday (June 18).

Mad Rage handed over 2 940 soft toys to about five different organisations and these were the last toys available.

Aqccording to Andries Ferreira, from Mad Rage, more soft toys will be collected at the awareness event on Saturday (June 27).

“We can’t do this alone and have strong allies working with the FCS, SAPS, Hi5 Kids Recovery Unit, Wild Wild Guardians and the Sexual Assault Clinic and many more,” he says.

These organisations will also be part of the awareness event.

FCS unit commander Lieut Col Evodia Ratsupa, is thrilled with the support the unit gets from the above-mentioned organisations.

She says it is easy to work with all the people involved.

“We are working with sensitive cases and the soft toys are always welcome,” she adds.

The toys are given to the children as a medium of comfort.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the police appreciate the assistance of the different organisations linked to the FCS.

The link between the different organisations is huge and it is tremendously important for them to always interact.

The awareness event will take place at Springs Old Boys Club, in Gilgil Street, Pollak Park Extension Three, between 10am and 5pm.

Fleamarket stalls are available.
