Mark receives an award at SANBS gala dinner

Dersley Park resident Mark Brener was honoured at the recent gala evening hosted by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) for donating his milestone 200th unit of blood.

He was thanked for his commitment and dedication towards helping save lives by SANBS public relations practitioner Terrance Pillay.

“Only half an hour of someone’s time can make a difference in someone’s life,” says Terrance.

Requirements to donate blood are:
* Weigh 50kg or more
* Should be 16 years and older
* Lead a sexually safe lifestyle
* Must have eaten in the last four hours

Donated blood can help save cancer patients, premature babies, accident victims and others who need transfusions to live.

In less than an hour anyone can become a hero to people they will never meet, but whose lives they will change forever.
