Geduld residents not impressed with metro contractors

Metro contractors opened up the cement around a fairly newly installed water meter in Ninth Avenue, Geduld, recently, but failed to replace it.

Geduld resident Ronel Sakko says they have been living there for the past eight years, and it is a newly installed water meter.

She would like to know why the contractors opened up around all the meters.

Resident Sanette Joubert is not impressed with the metro contract workers who chopped up the cement.

She claims that, when she asked them if they were going to replace the meters and why they were breaking the cement, they couldn’t give her a reason.

Sanette cannot understand why they opened up the cement around all the water meters in the street, as the meters aren’t that old.

The meter on her premises has not yet been replaced with a new one, and she dreads the day they council workers will chop up the cement to fit it.

“The meter is in our driveway and I will expect them to fix the mess after installation,” she says.

No comment had been received from the metro at the time of going to print.
